It now will only boot-up only to shut right back down. Otherwise an excellent solution for a driver who uses more than one vehicle, I killed my Garmin Nuvi while pulling a hurried U-turn. The Garmin shot across the dashboard and struck the passenger-side door. If you have a choice, use the suction cup. If not, watch those U-turns.
Doesn't fit nuvi885t. Mounting ball on stalk is too big for thepower and mounting plate that holds the nuvi
I have both the friction pad and the suction cup mounts. I definitely prefer the friction pad. Much easier to move around, less hassle to position, simpler to hide and not leave a "suction cup" foot print.There is a bundle pack that includes this, a couple car adapters, and GPS case that would recommend.
I previously used a Garmin IQue3600 GPS/PDA (1st generation GPS) with a friction mount for the past 7 years in myriad of vehicles (Pilot, Expedition, Pathfinder, Acura TL/CL/TSX) with no problems of slipping on the dash (I do however, as a precaution, use a piece of rubber liner (the type of liner used for a tool box or cupboard) between the dash and Garmin mount. Great "optional" mount - Garmin should include this in the box instead of the windshield mount. I use this mount with a Nuvi 255W in a Odyssey and TSX - works great. First, I could NOT find a cheaper price on the web - definitely buy from Amazon. This is my second "friction mount" from Garmin. Definitely better than the supplied windshield mount. Highly recommended.
You really should consider one of these, rather than relay on teh suction cup or some other solution. May seem expensive but it's a very versatile and useful item (quite heavy, really, so factor that into your packing if taking abroad). Recommended even for twisty roads.
